Video games were first made in the 1940’s in 1947 and it was called “Cathode Ray tube amusement device” which was a very basic missile simulator of World War II but because graphics could not be created at the time so they had to be drawn on the screen.
Other games such as Chess and Reverse were also some of the first Video Games designed , the game reverse was made into a video game in 1951 on a console called NIM, it was created by Ferranti and shown at the festival of Britain and weighed over 1 Ton.
The first Home console was designed in 1966 by Ralph Baer and released by Magnavox and it was called the Odyssey, this was the first console created that used a television set to view the game on.
Over the years from 1966 since the Odyssey other games and consoles such as Pong which was released by Atari as its own mini console in 1975, From then other consoles such as the Atari and the NES Were made, but in 1980 the first Handheld console was made by Nintendo and it was called the “Game&Watch” which had a default games built in such as “Super Mario Bros” And “Donkey Kong” Built into it. If you look at the design of the Game&Watch you can also see how Nintendo have took inspiration from their past handheld game console design’s because it looks like a very similar design as it also the same size.
In 1989 Nintendo released another handheld console was released called the “GameBoy” which was a massive hit and sold over 118 million units world wide and was a massive hit.
Looking at the GameBoy you can really see over the years how Nintendo have looked back at past design’s and took into consideration how to advance with user ergonomics and how the user feels comfortable to hold the Console as you can really see how Nintendo have progressed through the years.
The Gameboy was Discontinued in 2003 and sold a total of 118 Million unites including it's re-design's the GameBoy pcoket and the GameBoy Light.

Researches also tested something measures something called an "Attentional Blink" which captures how easy it is to catch someones attention.
Researchers said "Video game playing enhances the capacity of visual attention and its spatial distribution," This shows to some sides of Video games that they can be good for you in terms of reactions and visual skills.
Researchers tested between 2 games, Medal of Honour an FPS Game, and Tetris the Classic Puzzle game and results shown that Gamers who had played Medal of Honour shown a big improvement in attentional and Visual skills while the gamers who played the puzzle game Tetris shown no improvements in any of these skills.
"By forcing players to simultaneously juggle a number of varied tasks, action video game playing pushes the limits of three rather different aspects of visual attention," wrote the researchers.
Researchers also wrote. "Although video game playing may seem to be rather mindless, it is capable of radically altering visual attentional processing.".
